About LAO

LeadingAge Ohio is a nonprofit trade association that represents approximately 400 long-term care organizations and hospices, as well as those providing ancillary health care and housing services, in more than 150 Ohio towns and cities. The continuum of care reflected by the member organizations serve an estimated 400,000 elderly Ohioans annually and employ more than 35,000 persons statewide.

Regulatory

With regulatory initiatives and developments often taking center stage in our members’ quest for operational compliance, the ability to quickly learn the basics and have access to more in-depth information about regulatory initiatives and developments becomes critical.

Advocacy

LeadingAge Ohio advocates for policies that remove barriers to care, develop new services, improve reimbursement and make Ohio a better place to age. Our advocacy team tracks legislation and regulatory updates to make sure that policy makers understand how changes will impact our members and the people they serve. 

But we can't do it all without you. Your work as an advocate is crucial to motivating legislators and other policymakers.  We make it easy with a range of tools that summarize the issues, provide sample letters and help you contact your members of Congress.

Education

LeadingAge Ohio offers relevant and timely educational programs for professionals at all levels in your organization. These programs provide our members with opportunities to network and share ideas at workshops, our Annual Conference & Trade Show, and through distance learning. Many of our educational programs offer continuing education credits through Ohio’s Board of Executives of Long-term Services & Supports (BELTSS) as well as the Ohio Nurses Association.

Workforce

Ohio is experiencing a tidal wave of baby boomers increasing the demand for long-term services, creating increased demand for long-term care services over the next three decades. LeadingAge Ohio’s efforts to address the workforce shortage include a range of employee recruitment and retention solutions, from working in grades K- 12 to foster awareness of careers in aging to working with OSU’s Alber Enterprise Center to create frontline supervisor training programs. 

Our Workforce Center is designed to provide members with proven resources to help recruit the highest quality staff, retain exceptional team members and train career caregivers. Whether we are sharing data about our current workforce environment or designing new initiatives with valued stakeholders, our members are working to elevate our state’s aging services caregiving workforce. Together, we are advancing innovative workforce solutions that ensure all Ohioans have access to the services they need.
